Rugged scanners fill Dairy Farmers’ bill
When Dairy Farmers approached Capacity Systems for a scanning solution it was discovered a number of issues needed resolving.
The requirement called for an industrial, easy to use system that enabled the drivers to scan the barcode on sample vials accurately during pick-ups.
As well as having to withstand the physical conditions typical of being located in the back of a milk tanker, the solution also had to interface directly to the German made Zevodat data acquisition and control system fitted to all trucks.
The Intermec Sabre 1400 was recommended as a scanner rugged enough to withstand the environmental conditions as well as being able to offer the speed, ease of use and accuracy required for the daily run schedules.
After trialing the Sabre at the Caboolture and Bundall Depots, Capacity Systems developed a customised interface for the scanner enabling direct connection to the Zevodat system.
Preliminary installations resulted in immediate data entry accuracy along with positive feedback from drivers. Dairy Farmers subsequently ordered the Sabre 1400 kits to service its Qld and NSW fleet.
